A&L Goodbody's multi-disciplinary China Group advise on many aspects of Chinese law as it relates to international transactions. - A&L Goodbody

Our China Programme

At A&L Goodbody we have a deep understanding of China's legal and business environment. This is underpinned by our practical experience and knowledge of doing business in China. We advise Chinese companies looking at business or investment opportunities in Ireland and assist Irish clients in relation to their business interests in China.

Since launching our China programme in 2010, A&L Goodbody has brought over 60 Chinese lawyers to work with us and our clients in Dublin. We continue to develop strong working relationships with many of the top law firms, universities, state and privately owned enterprises in China, as well as regulatory, representative and government agencies. A&L Goodbody is regularly involved in related industry associations and events. This includes membership of the Ireland China Business Association.

A&L Goodbody was also delighted to be the only Irish law firm recognised for its expertise in advising Chinese companies in the international category for Banking & Finance at the China Business Law Awards 2016 by the China Business Law Journal. In addition, A&L Goodbody regularly advises on award winning deals in Asia.

Our Partners regularly travel to China to meet our Chinese clients and to present at seminars and conferences about Chinese outbound investment.

Chinese Lawyers Programme

In 2011, A&L Goodbody established a Chinese Lawyer's Programme in conjunction with a number of the top independent business law firms, corporates and universities in China. To date, over 60 Chinese lawyers have spent up to six months in A&L Goodbody's Dublin office, servicing clients and gaining frontline exposure to the Firm’s domestic and international client base as well as Irish State agencies involved in inbound and outbound investment. These lawyers also have the opportunity to work in-house with our clients or government agencies. Lawyers from A&L Goodbody have similarly gained experience working on secondment in the offices of Chinese law firms for periods of up to four months. The Programme is the first of its kind in Ireland and remains unique in the Irish market.
