We have been advising sports clients for many years and our Sports Law Group has a particularly strong reputation in the marketplace nationally and internationally. We provide co-ordinated, specialised legal advice to sports associations, governing bodies, professionals, and companies on a wide range of issues across a variety of sports including soccer, rugby, horse racing, golf, GAA and motor sports.
Members of the Group are drawn from across the Firm and have unrivalled expertise in the full range of disciplines including intellectual property, image rights, corporate and commercial, litigation and dispute resolution, sponsorship and contracts generally, rules and regulations, employment, competition, and construction law.
We are also regular contributors to debates and discussions on sports law and business and have written several articles and contributed to books on sports law. Eoin MacNeill, Head of the Group, co-wrote the chapter on image rights in Ireland in Blackshaw and Siekmann's 'Sports Image Rights in Europe' (T.M.C. Asser Press, 2004) and is a regular contributor to radio and print discussions on sports law issues. Members of the Group organised the successful Business of Sport Conferences 2004 and 2005 in conjunction with University College Dublin. We lecture on sports law in Trinity College, University College Dublin, and the Royal College of Surgeons.
