Kevin Feeney

Kevin Feeney is a Partner in the A&L Goodbody Banking Department and Head of the Projects & Construction and Energy & Natural Resources Groups. A specialist in the building, civil engineering and energy sectors, Kevin advises all relevant stakeholders including lenders, project promoters, government bodies and contractors on all aspects of infrastructure and engineering law, including project finance, concession arrangements, construction, outsourcing and infrastructure M&A.

Kevin qualified as a civil engineer in 1986 and worked with Ove Arup and Partners until 1989. He became a chartered engineer and Member of the Institution of Structural Engineers in 1989 and a Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers in 1990. Kevin worked with international law firm Linklaters between 1993 and 1998. He is currently a member of the Law Society of Ireland and the Law Society of Northern Ireland.

Key transactions include advising:

  • The Department of Communications, Energy and Natural Resources in respect of ESB’s acquisition of the Northern Ireland Electricity Transmission and Distribution System;
  • Certus on a seven year financial outsourcing agreement with Bank of Scotland;
  • EirGrid on its investment and commercialisation of a UK/Ireland fibre optic cable infrastructure;
  • Bord na Mona on its development of an 110MW Peaking Power Plant;
  • Health Service Executive and the National Development Finance Agency on the procurement of a DBFO Project for the procurement of oncology services across Ireland, including buildings, oncology equipment, ICT infrastructure and associated non-clinical services;
  • Supporting a consortium comprising Strabag AG, Sisk, Lagan and Roadbridge on its tender in connection with the N17 Gort to Tuam public private partnership road project;
  • Scottish and Southern Energy on its acquisition of Airtricity Holdings;
  • The lenders on the project financing of Tynagh Power Station;
  • The project sponsors on the Criminal Courts PPP project;
  • The project sponsors on the Limerick Tunnel PPP Project;
