Kenan Furlong is a partner in the Litigation and Dispute Resolution Department. He has extensive experience in advising many of Ireland’s leading companies on business-critical commercial disputes. He has market leading expertise in managing corporate reputation, corporate criminal offences and insurance law.
Kenan heads our Corporate Criminal Offences Unit with Joe Kelly. He has extensive experience in advising clients on managing their relationships with various Irish regulators and the Garda Bureau of Fraud Investigation as well as foreign investigators such as the UK's Serious Fraud Office and Financial Services Authority. He has defended a number of prosecutions by various regulators and is regularly engaged to advise on or conduct internal investigations into potential fraud. He is chairing the International Bar Association's 2012 seminar on 'Criminal Fraud and the Global Economic Recession'.
Kenan advises the firm's clients on media coverage both pre and post publication. This can involve injunctive proceedings to prevent publication, liaising with the media outlet to manage content, or seeking redress post publication. Such redress can come in the form of a clarification, apology, complaint to the Press Ombudsman/Broadcasting Authority of Ireland and/or a defamation action.
Kenan is an insurance law expert. He advises a number of the leading UK and Irish insurers on their commercial risk claims and policy issues. He recently presented papers on effective claims management to audiences of selected underwriters in both Dublin and London.
Kenan is recommended as a leading lawyer in a number of legal publications where he is described as "a rising talent in the contentious sector" (Chambers Global 2011) and "a good man to have on your side when the going gets tough" (Legal 500 2011).
