John has been a Partner in the Tax Department since 1990. He advises in all areas of corporate taxation with special emphasis on structured finance, insurance, commercial property and cross border aspects of asset holding structures. His practice encompasses direct taxation of corporate income and gains and cross border issues concerning withholding and credit for foreign taxes, and in addition, indirect taxes such as VAT and stamp duty. He also advises families and trustees on capital taxation and on structuring the holding of assets for wealth, asset and succession protection.
His international tax practice brings him into contact with policy issues regarding Irish taxation, and as a result he has had an involvement with several legislative changes which have strengthened Ireland’s position as a location for inward investment by foreign multinationals.
