Professor John Wylie

Professor John Wylie has been a consultant to the Firm since 1993, attached primarily to the Commercial Property Department. He has been Professor of Law at Cardiff University since 1971 and is the author of the leading texts on Irish property law, including Irish Land Law, Irish Conveyancing Law and Irish Landlord and Tenant Law.

He has acted as a consultant for many years to the Law Societies in both parts of Ireland. He was also appointed leader of the Department of Justice and Law Reform Commission Joint Project on the reform of land and conveyancing law. This led to the Government’s Land and Conveyancing Law Reform Bill 2006, which has been passed by the Seanad and is currently before the Dail. This project has led to the Law Reform Commission’s eConveyancing Project, which also has Government support.

He is also currently leading a project on the reform of landlord and tenant law. He was a director of the legal publisher, Butterworth Ireland Ltd. from 1988 to 2004 and retains other interests in Irish legal publishing.
