Week 2 in Funds has been even busier than Week 1!

So far we have had several departmental presentations, including Banking and Corporate departments, and we had Written Communication Skills training, which will change the way I write everything. All of the presentations have been very interesting because as Interns, we work in one department of the Firm but the presentations have given us a better insight into what type of work is being done in the other departments.

After our Presentations skills training, the Interns met as a group which was a great success, we discussed what we might do for our presentations, if there were any problems, suggestions for future talks and of course the Interns social calendar!

Now turning to the type of work that my fee earner has given me. There have been many different tasks.

In the last week I have drafted a notice to shareholders, informing them of the updates to the supplements and I was updating bibles. I also had a research project on segregated liability which was very interesting, but trying to find obscure indexes and trying to find out if they have been approved by the Financial Regulator can be challenging at times, but with A LOT of searching they can always be found!! I drew up a schedule of changes made to a Memorandum of Association, Articles of Association and to the prospectus of a certain Fund and I have written a narrative (with the help of my fee earner).

This week was all about learning many new stock markets in the world (some of which I never knew existed!) so that we could email the client all that I had found out. I drafted a side letter for a custodian agreement which was very exciting. My team Partner gave me a research topic, looking at joint shareholders where the Knowledge Centre really came into good use. I updated and amended Memo and Articles of association making sure all the companies that were needed to be included were in fact included!

So moving onto today … we had a presentation on the services of the Knowledge Department by the Director of Knowledge Development and also a presentation by one of the Pensions department Partners, both of which were excellent. Today’s task was challenging (everyone likes a challenge!) which required researching into all previous versions of supplements and prospectus’s of a Fund.

It's not all work and no play - thankfully. Our schedule includes a very busy social calendar. We were fortunate to start the week of the Annual Summer BBQ, where we were treated to an all expenses paid soiree in the fab Castleknock Hotel. I was also treated to a team lunch, which proved to be a great opportunity to get to know my team outside of work. This week we're heading to Druid's Glen for an adventure day - something we're all very excited about!

As a group of interns, we all seem to have bonded seamlessly from day 1. We went for dinner on Friday, followed by drinks in the very swanky Ely. This week we're planning a movie night, with perhaps a night on the tiles after our adventure day out …..
