My name is Alan Johnston and I am a Partner in A&L Goodbody’s Corporate Department. Looking back on my training contract here at A&L I have very fond memories: even before coming in to start, I really appreciated the Firm’s flexibility in encouraging me to go ahead with my plans of completing a Business Post Grad in Dublin and a Commercial Law Masters in the UK.

What first attracted me to A&L Goodbody was the Firm's prestigious reputation, not only in Ireland but also abroad, but I had very little experience of a law firm on a practical level.

As a Cork man, new to a big city, and after the rigours of college, I thought that it was going to be very difficult to settle into full-time employment and make friends within the working environment. However, A&L Goodbody has played an integral role in my settling process and I am delighted I made the choice to work in such an innovative and successful law firm.

Embarking on a traineeship is a big step. You have passed lots of exams, you may have some work experience under your belt or perhaps even have travelled the globe, but you still do not know what to expect as a Trainee in a premier corporate law firm like A&L Goodbody.
