Ciara McLoughlin

Ciara is a Partner in the firm's specialist Employment Practice Group. She provides strategic HR advice to international and domestic clients. Having practiced exclusively as an employment specialist since qualification as a solicitor in London, she has wide experience of all aspects of contentious and non-contentious employment law.  A fluent German speaker, Ciara is a founding member of the firms German Group.


Ciara has extensive experience working on large-scale projects, particularly in relation to change management issues such as reorganisation, redundancy and outsourcing. As well as this, Ciara works closely with Boards, HR and In-House legal teams on employment-related issues ranging from general policy matters (such as the implementation of new policies and procedures) through to the management of specific individuals (in areas such as discipline, performance and the investigation of allegations of bullying and harassment). Ciara has excellent insolvency and crisis management experience and has managed multi-jurisdictional workforce restructuring projects. She has a particular expertise in the employee participation aspects of European Limited Liability Companies (SEs) having advised on the first SE to have Irish employees back in 2010. Ciara represents employers in the High Court, Workplace Relations Commission and Labour Court in all types of employment disputes including injunction proceedings.

Professional Activities

Ciara has spoken at a number of conferences for organisations including the Public Affairs Institute, Legal Island and other professional bodies. She regularly provides employment law training to clients and non-clients on whistleblowing, equality and restructuring issues. She co-authored the Irish section in Bloomsbury's recent book, Workforce Restructuring In Europe, and has written articles for a number of specialist legal and HR publications. She is also a member of the European Employment Lawyers Association and the Employment Lawyers Association of Ireland.
