Gearoid Stanley is a Partner in the Banking and Financial Services Department. Gearoid advises leading Irish and international clients in the areas of debt capital markets, structured finance and banking and financial services regulation. His key areas of expertise include asset backed and high yield bond financing, covered bonds, financial derivatives, regulatory capital, securities market regulation and debt listing.

Gearoid also brings unique commercial experience to our debt capital markets practice, having spent many years working for international financial derivatives brokers in the Tokyo market, where his clients included major Japanese, North American and European financial institutions.

Experience

Recent experience includes advising:

  • The joint lead managers on the recent market placement of the State's €1 billion contingent capital notes issued by Bank of Ireland.
  • International and domestic financial institutions on Irish regulatory law, including capital requirements and securities law.
  • Several international and domestic financial institutions on the establishment and restructuring of RMBS, CMBS and CLO securitisations.
  • Bank of Ireland on its Asset Covered Securities Programme and recent ACS issuances.
  • NII, a multinational NASDAQ listed telecoms corporation, on its listings of high yield bonds in Ireland.
  • International and domestic financial institutions and clearers on Irish law issues relating to derivatives, netting and collateral arrangements.
  • Quinn Group on the recent restructuring of the Group’s bank and bond debt.
  • Goldman Sachs, Unicredit and Royal Bank of Scotland on their repackaging programmes.
