Mark Rasdale

Mark Rasdale is a Partner in the IP and Technology Group. Mark is also a member of our India Group. His practice covers a wide range of technology and IP focussed commercial transactions and data protection law. 

Mark has particular experience in technology development, procurement and licensing deals, including managed services, systems integration, data centre services and technology and business process outsourcing. He is also involved in strategic legal due diligence and transitional services arrangements in relation to corporate acquisitions, disposals and restructurings. 

Mark’s experience includes acting for international technology and consulting service providers, both in private practice and as an in-house lawyer, in Ireland, and in London where he practised for a number of years.

  • Bank of Ireland in relation to its various material technology outsourcing transactions including with IBM, BT and Accenture.
  • Carlyle Group in relation to the technology and IP aspects of its acquisition of AA Ireland.
  • Leading domestic financial institution in relation to its data protection compliance including GDPR readiness requirements.
  • National transport provider CIE, in relation to the outsourcing of its data centre and related IT managed services requirements.
  • UDG Healthcare in relation to all technology and IP aspects of the sale of its pharmaceutical distribution businesses to global pharmaceutical wholesaler McKesson.
  • Leading pharmaceutical multinational in relation to various IT transactions including procurement of data co-location, hosting and software as a service solutions.
  • ACC Bank in relation to the outsourcing of its loan book to Capita.
  • Special Liquidators of IBRC in relation to all data protection and transitional services arrangements pertaining to the disposal of the various loan books of Irish Bank Resolution Corporation.
  • Bloomberg L.P. on the technology and IP aspects of its acquisition of PolarLake Limited.
  • Telefonica in relation to the IP and technology (including transitional technology services) aspects of its sale of Telefonica Ireland to 3.
  • Ervia in relation to various outsourcing transactions including procurement of contact centre services, applications management and development services, water metering technology and meter data management services.
  • The Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland on various commercial transactions including a long term outsourced services and intellectual property licensing contract in respect of a new academic medical teaching hospital in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

He is the co-author of Information Technology: Professional Practice Guide (Law Society of Ireland / Cavendish Publishing 2004). Mark is the Irish representative for iTechLaw and is Vice Chair of the iTechLaw Outsourcing Sub-Committee. He is a member of the Society for Computers and Law and is also admitted as a solicitor in England and Wales (non-practising). Mark is currently a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP).
