Temp Finance Assistant

Reporting to:

I.      The Finance Partner for Belfast Office

II.     The Financial Accountant

III.    The Office Manager

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Processing client monies received daily to include lodgements, incoming and outgoing telegraphic transfers and cheque payments in accordance with Law Society Solicitor Accounts Regulations 2014 and internal processes
  • Reconciliation of monthly credit card statements
  • Communicating with Fee Earners and staff re. processing of client funds
  • Respond to enquiries to the Finance Department to include billing queries, general ledger enquiries, banking enquiries and external callers
  • Provide assistance to Finance Department including, but not limited to, maintain petty cash float, process expenses, enter disbursements, liaise with the bank and other parties
  • Ad hoc administration: photocopying, filing, deliver bank lodgements, running errands as and when required etc.

Skills and Experience required:

  • Good numerical skills and superior attention to detail
  • Knowledge of the Solicitor Accounts Regulations as updated by the Law Society of Northern Ireland
  • Strong customer service focus and a positive attitude
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
  • Strong IT skills
  • Well-developed organisational and administration skills
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Effective time management skills
  • Previous finance experience preferably in a legal bookkeeping capacity as well as working knowledge of online banking platforms
