This resource is designed to help legal teams have ready access to legal and business information

Introduction

We are pleased to publish the latest and fourth edition of the ALG Knowledge Online Legal Research Guide which was first published in 2012. This Guide is to help legal teams understand and navigate the key legal research tools and resources which are available and to help them have ready access to important legal and business information sources. Many of us are working remotely and perhaps are not as well connected with our usual information sources. We are publishing this new edition of our Guide to help with the challenges of remote working and this new edition also captures and reflects some recent developments and changes in online legal information resources. The Guide is based on our own experience of what are the most useful research tools and resources.

Legal teams will find practical guidance on the best free resources to use and the easiest way to stay up to date on legal developments. There are also some practical pointers and tips on the most efficient ways to conduct legal research.

We would like to remind you that Ann O'Sullivan, our Knowledge Services Manager, is happy to talk to client legal teams about this Guide and more generally to provide advice on how best to manage legal research resources.

Knowledge Offering

There are several strands to our client knowledge offering which may be of interest to our clients and, in particular, client legal teams:

  • Our Knowledge Lawyers provide weekly client updates on legal developments through the Knowledge Bulletin as well as more in-depth and bespoke content though KnowledgePlus. The Bulletin focuses on the practical implications of what’s new and the key facts that our clients need to know. Register here for email updates and publications on the latest legal and business issues and for information on ALG seminars and events.
  • Our Knowledge Lawyers are available to talk with clients about new legal or regulatory developments, including developments or changes that are in the pipeline.
  • They are also happy to work with client legal teams to develop knowledge management solutions to help legal teams better manage their own legal know how, standard documents, precedents, transactions documents and other business or legal information that is relevant to their needs. They also offer legal training to clients on topics that may be of interest.
  • KnowledgePlus will provide legal teams with access to legal know how covering a broad range of legal practice areas. New content will be available and our offering of CPD eligible presentations extended.
