Finance Assistant (fixed term contract) - Finance

We are currently recruiting for a Finance Assistant on a fixed-term basis for a period of 6 months within our Belfast Finance Department.

This role offers an excellent opportunity for an ambitious and motivated individual who is keen to gain experience within a top-tier corporate law firm.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Accounts Payable – processing invoices from suppliers on a timely basis and reconciliation of supplier accounts
  • Monthly creditor payment run – paying suppliers in accordance with payment terms
  • Disbursement entry – input of client disbursement charges including cheque preparation
  • Billing – assist with billing during key periods such as month-end and as required
  • Finance administration – assisting the Finance Department as required with projects such as Archiving and records management including bank lodgements
  • Assisting fee earning colleagues with queries around client disbursements and ledgers

Skills and experience required:

  • Excellent numerical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to work well under pressure and as part of a team
  • Strong PC application skills
  • Well-developed organisational and administration skills
  • Effective time management skills
  • Previous experience in a busy finance department highly desirable
  • Legal bookkeeping experience is also highly desirable

This is a temporary assignment commencing as soon as possible for approximately 6 months. While the role is fixed-term, there may be the potential for a permanent opportunity depending on business needs.

Working hours are 9am – 5pm, 35 hrs per week but with the demands of a busy law firm there will be a requirement to be flexible with working hours.
