Our pro bono practice
Pro bono is a fundamental part of A&L Goodbody (ALG). We were the first Irish law firm to establish a formal pro bono practice; appoint a full time pro bono associate; offer a trainee rotation; sign up to the UK Collaborative Plan and publicly commit to a target of 25 pro bono hours per lawyer by 2021.
Access to justice lies at the heart of our pro bono practice. It informs the partnerships we develop and the organisations we work with. We believe we can make the most impact by using our legal skills to respond to unmet legal need in our community.
We work in partnership with domestic and international “clearing houses”, including the Public Interest Law Alliance, Business in the Community and Thomson Reuters Trustlaw Foundation. They match our expertise with specific legal needs in non-governmental organisations, community organisations and law centres.

At ALG, Diversity & Inclusion is about respecting, valuing and leveraging the differences that exist in our employee base and the domestic and international markets in which we do business.
Mutual respect and collaboration amongst our colleagues is key to the culture of our firm and we are committed to ensuring that that everyone is treated with respect, fairness and integrity.
Every one of our employees bring a set of special talents and perspectives to the table. We celebrate diverse thinking by creating a culture where all of our people are encouraged to draw upon their unique backgrounds, interests and viewpoints.
This diverse and inclusive approach benefits our people and our clients and therefore our business. As the diversity of our client base continues to grow it is imperative that we have a diverse and inclusive workforce to reflect that client basis. Different options, perspectives and cultures are powerful in international business
