Knowledge Lawyer, Asset Management & Investment Funds

The successful applicant will be an integral part of our dynamic and market-leading Asset Management & Investment Fund practice group. The role will directly report to the Head of Asset Management & Investment Funds and the Knowledge Partner.

Role and responsibilities
  • To keep fee earners in the Asset Management & Investment Funds (AMIF) group up to speed on legal and regulatory developments, including pipeline developments
  • To capture and disseminate relevant legal knowledge so as to ensure that the collective expertise and knowledge of the group is understood and shared
  • To assist AMIF fee earners (and clients where appropriate) in respect of technical and/or practical legal issues raised by clients, and to assist in the development of position papers, toolkits and other legal know how.
  • To work and collaborate with the Knowledge Partner and Knowledge Lawyers and broader Knowledge team so as to ensure that they are getting sufficient leverage from the experience and learnings across the Knowledge team.
  • To play a proactive role in bringing knowledge Business Development ideas to the AMIF partner group and to collaborate with the partners in implementing these ideas.
  • To take responsibility for the development and production of precedents (to a standard that is partner sign-off level) and the maintenance and development generally of AMIF Precedents.
  • To play a significant role in exploiting the business development opportunities presented by AMIF knowledge, and, in particular, to focus on developing a strong client-facing knowledge lawyer role through seminars, publications and client training.
  • To play a significant role in aligning AMIF knowledge with other departments, and in particular, Corporate, as appropriate
  • To input AMIF content on the Client online resource, Knowledge Plus.
  • Participation in other knowledge management initiatives and projects, appropriate, and providing assistance to Knowledge Partner and the knowledge team regarding specific Know How or Knowledge Management initiatives.
  • Contribution to client pitches where appropriate
  • To develop and promote the expertise of our AMIF team in the market, including presenting to, and engaging directly with clients and at industry events as appropriate on specially researched topics or legislative changes.
  • Organise and where appropriate run workshops and other education/training initiatives for AMIF fee earners.
The successful candidate will be ideally an experienced Lawyer with;
  • Knowledge and practical experience of AMIF
  • Strong technical, legal and analytical skills
  • Proficient drafting skills
  • Excellent communication skills in the context of both formal 'podium' and training presentations and the ability to sell ideas and initiatives to people
  • Excellent sectoral and firm knowledge
  • A keen interest in knowledge and continuous development
