IORP II regulations - The countdown to compliance
On 22 April 2021, the Irish government enacted the European Communities (Occupational Pension Scheme) Regulations 2021 (the Regulations) which transposed Directive (EU) 2016/2341 (the IORP II Directive) into Irish law. The Regulations impact on all pension schemes and contain the most significant changes to the Irish pensions legislative landscape in 15 years. The Regulations are welcome and the focus of pension scheme trustees now needs to turn to how to comply with the changes brought about through the Regulations.
