A&L Goodbody publishes second Pro Bono Impact Report
A&L Goodbody LLP (ALG) has published its Pro Bono Impact Report for 2024. The report details the breadth of free legal work undertaken by the firm and the positive impact it has on its pro bono clients last year.
ALG’s Pro Bono Impact Report 2024 highlights the work carried out by ALG lawyers and the impact it has on the clients it supports. The report includes client testimony and case studies under our four pro bono goals:
- developing human rights impact projects
- promoting legal education and information
- championing a vibrant civil society
- unlocking the potential of social enterprise
The report details how ALG lawyers supported those fleeing war and persecution, reunited families seeking asylum, advocated for those needing housing support, provided access to legal information, carried out legal research and provided legal advice to civil society and social enterprise. It also highlights our work in promoting a culture of pro bono legal work across the profession through our continued facilitation of the In-House Counsel Pro Bono Network.
ALG undertook over 325 pro bono matters in 2024 with 375 legal professionals providing over 14,000+ hours of free legal advice. This equates to an average of 33 hours for each lawyer in ALG in 2024 – exceeding ALG’s commitment to 25 hours per lawyer under the Pro Bono Pledge Ireland.
Commenting on the publication of the ALG Pro Bono Impact Report 2024, ALG Head of Pro Bono, Eithne Lynch, said: “Dedication to pro bono work is a core part of our firm’s culture. With the largest pro bono practice in Ireland, hundreds of our lawyers provide expert legal advice to those individual and families facing the greatest barriers to accessing justice, as well as to the organisations that support them. This report highlights how accessible, timely and professional legal services can make a real impact on those who need it most. A huge thank you to our partners and colleagues who has made this work possible, and most importantly to our clients for placing their trust in us.”
