On 8 May 2015, the European Commission announced that DG Competition will host the second Global Maritime Regulatory Summit on 18 June 2015 in Brussels. It will be a follow-up to the first Summit in Washington in December 2013. Representatives of the Chinese Ministry of Transport, the United States' Federal Maritime Commission and the European Commission will convene to discuss current market and regulatory developments in the maritime transport sector. The discussions are expected to centre on the global trend towards increased co-operation and market consolidation in liner shipping as well as on regulatory and policy issues related to ports.
