A&L Goodbody ranked Ireland’s top legal advisor for M&A for third consecutive year
A&L Goodbody has been ranked as the top Irish law firm for Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) in 2014 by four separate publications – Thomson Reuters, Bloomberg, Mergermarket and Experian Corpfin. The Firm advised on more M&A deals in 2014 than any other Irish law firm – following similar rankings achieved in 2012 and 2013.
The range of transactions worked on by the Firm in 2014 included acting for: the Irish Government on the sale of Bord Gáis Energy; Medtronic on its proposed US$42.9b acquisition of Covidien; Endo International on its US$2.6b acquisition of Auxilium Pharmaceuticals; and Dalata Hotel Group on its capital raising and ongoing purchase of a number of hotels in Ireland.
Mark Ward, Head of M&A at A&L Goodbody comments: "To achieve this ranking three years running is a first in the Irish legal market. It demonstrates both the strength of our brand and our unique ability to collaborate across our business on the type of large, complex deals that dominated the M&A market in 2014."
He concludes: "As confidence continues to return to global and domestic economies, we anticipate increased M&A activity to continue in 2015, with a greater number of mid-market deals anticipated in Ireland. International acquirers will continue to play a dominant role in these transactions."
