Our partnership with Kinia

ALG Dublin has been a regional partner of Kinia since 2013 with our employees delivering literacy programmes to school children aged 6-12 in local DEIS schools. Volunteers are paired with two pupils and read with them for one hour a week over an eight week period. The Kinia literacy support programme not only helps to improve literacy and comprehension skills of the readers but also boosts their confidence. In addition to volunteering, ALG supports Kinia through the following:

  • Annual funding to finance the delivery of the literacy programmes nationals
  • Pro bono counsel for Kinia in respect of their own corporate affairs

To date, ALG has worked with St Vincent's Girl's National School, North William St, Dublin 1, St Laurence O'Toole Girls and Boys National School, Francis Street C.B.S. with this programme and are currently supporting St Joseph's Co-Ed Primary School, East Wall, Dublin 1.

A&L Goodbody Belfast

ALG Belfast also delivers a literacy support programme to pupils of St. Patrick's National School through the Business in the Community Northern Ireland's (BITCNI) 'Time to Read' programme.

Junior Achievement

ALG has been a partner of Junior Achievement Ireland (JAI) for over 20 years. In that time, our employees have volunteered to deliver educational programmes to both primary and secondary schools in the local community and beyond and have also participated in the Career Ready mentoring programme. Junior Achievement encourages young people to remain in education and teaches them the skills they need to succeed in the working world. We also provide annual funding and pro bono legal advice to JAI.

jumpAgrade

ALG has entered into a new partnership with jumpAgrade, the online grinds platform, to support six Leaving Cert students at Marino College Second Level in Dublin 3. jumpAgrade provides online tutoring to second-level students regardless of location, ability or socio-economic background. Based on their specific needs, jumpAgrade matches students with a vetted tutor who will provide weekly online grinds and personalised feedback.

Step In Experience

Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities (TCPID)

We are proud supporters of the Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual disabilities (TCPID). We support TCPID through funding and work experience opportunities for their second year graduates. To date we have provided six eight week work experience opportunities, one three month internship and one permanent role.

Trinity Access Programme (TAP)

We have been a proud corporate supporter for many years of TAP's ‘Pathways to Law programme’. This programme focuses on steps to encourage and assist secondary students from disadvantaged backgrounds to study law. In addition to financially supporting these programmes, we provide professional guidance, student scholarships, summer intern programme placements, and mentoring and advice to law students.

DCU Access to the Workplace programme

We support DCU's Access to the Workplace programme by providing funding and offering their second year access students a summer paid work placement.

Rodney Overend Educational Trust

The Rodney Overend Educational Trust was established by ALG to honour the memory of one of its lawyers, Rodney Overend, a graduate of Law in Trinity in 1982. The Trust seeks to support promising young law students with their third-level education costs and a scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student entering Law in Trinity. The first bursary was awarded in 2013.
