John Williams


John Williams is a Partner in the Commercial Property Department and his practice focuses on all types of property acquisitions, disposals, investments, financing, development and asset management work. John acts for a wide range of developers, banks and investors in dealing with purchases, sales, lettings, lending and ongoing investment management issues. John has also recently acted for both banks and private equity firms in relation to the sale and purchase of a number of loan portfolios.

John has particular expertise in the areas of (i) receiver and liquidator sales and acts for a number of receivers, liquidators and banks in relation to the sale of property portfolios and (ii) renewable energy and acts for a number of banks in relation to the financing of energy projects.

Recent experience includes advising: 

  • Chartered Land and its funding partner on Project Trinity, the acquisition of two Dublin hotels.
  • Starwood Capital on Project Molly, the acquisition of a prime Dublin office portfolio.
  • NAMA on Project Tara, the sale of a prime Dublin office portfolio.
  • RBS/Ulster Bank on the sale of loan portfolios to include Projects Clear, Finn, Arthur, Achill and Button.
  • Windfarm Developers (both public and private) in relation to the acquisition, development and financing of a number of windfarm projects.
  • Nord LB, DNB, Rabobank, Bank of Ireland, Ulster Bank (and others) on the financing of several windfarm projects throughout Ireland.
  • Grant Thornton on the Maplewood Developments receivership.
  • CarVal Investors as bidder for loan portfolio.
  • KPMG on the Project Gemini receivership sale of a number of commercial, residential and mixed use developments.
  • Starwood as bidder for loan portfolios.
  • KPMG, PwC, E&Y, Deloitte, Grant Thornton and McStay Luby as receivers and liquidators on all aspects of the sale of various receivership and liquidation property portfolios.
