Domestic

CBI Investment Firm and Intermediary Newsletter June 2026

On 4 June 2026, the Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) published its first Investment Firm and Intermediary Newsletter of 2026 setting out a range of supervisory and regulatory updates.

European

MiFID II – research unbundling changes apply

From 6 June 2026, amendments under the EU Listing Act permit the re‑bundling of research and execution payments for certain market capitalisation segments, reversing aspects of the MiFID II inducements regime. Asset managers and MiFID firms should assess their research procurement arrangements and related disclosure obligations in light of these changes.

ESMA de-prioritises and cancels certain 2026 deliverables

On 2 June 2026, the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) published a prioritisation letter outlining how it will adjust its 2026 annual work programme in response to resource constraints, evolving legislative developments and the increasing policy focus on simplification and burden reduction. The letter confirms that ESMA will postpone, scale back or cancel certain planned deliverables, including technical standards, guidelines and regulatory reports, where their relevance may be overtaken by forthcoming legislative changes, particularly the proposed Market Integration and Supervision Package.
