A&L Goodbody Belfast raises over £10,000 for Cancer Fund for Children
A&L Goodbody’s (ALG) Belfast office has raised more than £10,000 in support of Cancer Fund for Children, following a series of fundraising challenges.
Peter Stafford, Mark Thompson and Matthew Nesbitt cycled an extraordinary 340km route from Daisy Lodge in Newcastle, Co. Down, to Daisy Lodge in Cong, Co. Mayo. Meanwhile, the rest of Team ALG completed a sponsored hike and a three-day spinathon to add to the fundraising pot.
Commenting on the achievement, Mark Thompson, Partner at ALG, said:
“This was both a physical and mental challenge, but knowing we were raising money for such an important cause kept us going. At ALG, we’re proud to play our part in supporting the incredible work that Cancer Fund for Children does for families across Northern Ireland and beyond. This fundraising formed part of the 26 Mountains 2 Mayo Challenge, a major fundraising initiative coordinated by Roger Johnston and a group of business leaders from across Northern Ireland."
The funds raised will go towards the charity’s work at its therapeutic short break centres, Daisy Lodge in Newcastle and the newly opened Daisy Lodge in Cong, which provide support to children and families impacted by cancer.
Maria Small, Partnership and Philanthropy Advisor at Cancer Fund for Children, said:
“We are incredibly grateful to everyone at ALG for their phenomenal efforts and commitment to mission. The money raised will help ensure that no child will face cancer alone. The support from organisations like ALG makes it possible for us to continue offering essential services to children and young people impacted by cancer across Ireland.”
This fundraising initiative forms part of ALG’s wider commitment to community and corporate social responsibility in Northern Ireland.
