ALG advise EQT on the $2bn acquisition of a majority stake in McGill and Partners

ALG recently acted as Irish counsel to EQT on its acquisition of a majority stake in McGill and Partners from Warburg Pincus for $2bn. The acquisition represents the attractiveness of the insurance and reinsurance sector to private equity investors, particularly high-growth, technology-enabled businesses with international reach.

The ALG team was led by James Grennan and Stephen Quinlivan. Supported by Eoin Shiel, Daniel O’Boyle (Corporate and M&A), Catherine Moloney and Erica Smith (Insurance & Reinsurance). The core ALG team worked alongside colleagues in Employment and Real Estate. The transaction was led by Clifford Chance (London) as lead counsel to EQT.
