David Widger re-elected for second term as Managing Partner

David Widger has been re-elected by the partners of A&L Goodbody LLP (ALG) to serve a second four-year term as Managing Partner, commencing May 2026.
Keavy Ryan, Chair at ALG, said: “Under David’s leadership and strategic direction we have enjoyed a sustained period of success that ensures we remain at the very top of the Irish legal market. We look forward to continuing to benefit from his focus on client service, and his passion for our firm and our people.”
David Widger commented: “It has been an immense privilege over the last four years to work with the brilliant and ambitious people we have in ALG. We pride ourselves on building close relationships with our clients and delivering the highest quality legal service. I’m very much looking forward to the next four years as we navigate and adapt to the rapidly changing external market environment. The opportunities and challenges to innovate and differentiate make it a fascinating and exciting time to be a market-leading law firm.”
During his first term, David has overseen a period of sustained success for the firm. ALG continues to achieve multiple Tier 1 legal rankings in international publications such as Legal 500, Chambers & Partners and IFLR. Last year we advised on more M&A deals than any other Irish firm as reported by Mergermarket. Other recent international recognition includes being named Irish Law Firm of the Year 2025 by Chambers Europe and Company of the Year 2025 at the National Diversity & Inclusion Awards.
Recently we completed the redevelopment of our HQ building at 25 NWQ, Dublin. The new office, officially opened this year by An Taoiseach Micheál Martin, features state-of-the-art facilities and the latest technology to foster productivity, collaboration and wellbeing. It’s also one of the most sustainable office developments in Dublin.
