Dervla Broderick is a partner in A&L Goodbody's EU, Competition & Procurement practice.
She advises clients on all aspects of Irish, EU and UK competition law. This includes merger control, foreign direct investment, and foreign subsidies strategy and filings, as well as antitrust compliance and investigations.
Dervla brings a distinctive blend of private practice experience and public sector insight to her work. She has previously served as Deputy Director of Competition Enforcement and Mergers at the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) in Ireland. In that role, she led the investigation and successful resolution of significant civil competition enforcement cases, directed Phase II merger reviews, and contributed to the development of the Competition (Amendment) Act 2022.
Dervla has previously practised competition and regulatory law at major international law firms in London and led the Irish practice of US law firm, Ropes & Gray. In these roles, she worked on a broad range of antitrust matters, including merger control, foreign direct investment, foreign subsidies regulation, litigation, investigations, and cartel issues. She also completed a secondment with the UK Office of Fair Trading (now the Competition and Markets Authority), gaining valuable experience in cartel enforcement.
Dervla’s practice spans complex multijurisdictional mandates and high-stakes transactions, advising clients across industries on strategic competition and regulatory challenges, as well as government investigations and compliance strategies.
